President Shannon Kicked Out!

Member News • Jul 2nd, 2018 • (updated: Jul 5th, 2018) • 2 Comments

June 30, 2018 marked an end of the line for the Sparkle Princess. A year of life at the top of CSR had come to completion for president Shannon Hidalgo at a spectacular kickout party in her honor. The event was held on the last day of her reign so as to celebrate every last drop of the year she has so magnificently presided over. Shannon ended the year in the same infectious spirit that she started it with. Every meeting was pervaded with her unlimited enthusiasm and sparkling manner. But behind her podium personna, she was a strong, efficient leader who presided over a series of projects, parties, and processes that make CSR stand out as the metaphoric Jewel in the Crown of Rotary. A partial list of her successes includes:

  • Move to District Field location and Open House Party
  • Rotary Recipe Roundup Book
  • Police, Fire, Citizen of the Year Awards
  • Blanket Project
  • RYLA record attendance set
  • TEX hits half million mark
  • National Night Out
  • Mayor's Packages of Love drive
  • Friends & Family Picnic
  • Covina PD K-9 support
  • Rotating CSR social hour events
  • Thunderfest Beer Garden
  • Pomeroy Station fundraiser
  • Texas Hold'Em Tournament
  • Club Brochure and Banners
  • Crafty Ladies of Rotary
  • Stockings for Troops
  • Pauly's Project on Skid Row
  • Chili Cook-Off
  • Heels on Wheels foundation benefit
  • Country Fair fundraiser
  • OSC records set

She also ended her year with the District Governor's Citation for leading a "fun, vibrant, engaged club in Service Above Self", presented by DG Raghada Khoury. The evening started with a couple hours of cocktails, apps, and frivolities, followed by a great meal on the deck supplied by the Taco Guy (actually his real name). The lame duck president provided a great summary of her year and thanked her board members before turning the microphone over to incoming president "Wild" Bill Higley. Bill introduced his incoming board and kept things amazingly brief, anticipating full control of the podium starting in July. The crowd then enjoyed a great video presentation prepared by the outgoing pres about her year in office which you can VIEW HERE. Then, the feature presentation, a "roast" of the president in the form of "This Is Your Life" was shown, featuring most of CSR members in the cast (see the VIDEOS below). The celebration continued into the wee hours of the morning, and only ONE person fell into the pool! (not saying who).
