On Sunday, November 19, 2017, CSR created a group service club project in conjunction with Pauly’s Project to give back to the homeless in the skid row community of Los Angeles. Skid Row is no longer just a "row". A huge 54 block section of downtown Los Angeles has been the generally accepted limits of the area. Dozens if not hundreds of camps are set up in this area each with a dozen or so tents clustered. Our day saw us traveling with a caravan of cars to several of these camps, handing out goods to the very grateful and very friendly population.
Several memeber of CSR were joined in this project with the Covina Noon club, West Covina Rotary and our District Governor Rhagada Khoury plus help with donations from the Covina Kiwanis Club! Thank you to everyone that donated money and/or items. We were able to give out 150 lots of scarves, knit caps, socks and gloves from our club, over 200 sandwiches, 180 plus bags of snacks, 150 hygiene kits, 10 cases of water, dog & cat food and lots of clothing! Not only that, this effort helped Paulys Project get over $2000 in donations and helped with the purchase of 400 radio headsets that will be given out at their upcoming December event in Gladys park!
